The Merchant of Venice Synthesis Essay
Here are three links to articles regarding both the play and the history of anti-Semitism in England, particularly during Shakespeare’s time. Review the articles and choose one to use as a comparison to Shakespeare’s play.
Essay items to keep in mind:
-a comparison essay can include both similarities and differences
-an effective synthesis essay should cite examples from each source (both the article and the play) in each body paragraph.
-make sure to use direct quotes from all sources and ensure that Shakespeare quotes are formatted correctly.
-essay must be typed/written in ink and double spaced. **All other essays will be returned unmarked.
Due Dates:
-you will have two blocks of library time to access the articles and complete the outline (Jan. 16 and 19).
Outline due: Wed. Jan.21 Work on the rough copy in class.
Good copy due: Wed. Jan. 28
**Include title page and works cited page.
Remember this is your term 2 essay worth 40%!!
